Feelin’ so White & Nerdy…

What do Geeks and Nerds REALLY do when you’re not looking?

Do they hide away in their bedrooms drooling over yearbook photos of the pretty girls while trying to avoid all exposure to the light of the sun?

Do they fill up their free time memorizing PI to 10,000 places and writing and solving impossibly complex algorithms for fun?

Do they spend all their time cooking up plans to get even with the jocks and to get the pretty girls to go to the dance with them?

Well some of them do for sure, but I would like to present to you a telling expose of what the best kind of nerds do.

They’re plotting…to take over the world!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMhNeqOS3hk (18 Minutes)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqG98M6nYNQ (2 Minutes)

And that I mean seriously. While all the “normal” people spend your time obsessing over your their hair and make up, how big their muscles are, or how many times they can cry tears of black in a given day, the nerds are training vigorously to become the next generation of lawyers, pastors, and politicians.

In the faces of the people you saw in that video, you are seeing the future protectors of civil rights, the future defenders of Christianity, and the future rulers of your country and your world.

So what if they’re the so-called “losers” in highschool? Of what importance in highschool anyway when the world is at stake? Yep, they’re taking over the world. Since you “normal” people don’t care enough about your future to do anything to affect change, they will.

But that’s okay, the nerds always win in the end, cause they’re the ones that make the money and they secretly grin…

I GOT A PONY!!!!11one1one

Today I went to Wells Fargo and got my very first checking account. :)

I know, it seems a little late to be doing that, but I didn’t get my driver’s license until August, and without a license I couldn’t legally prove I am permitted to exist, so I had to do without.

They also had a special going on: open a new checking account and you get a $10 Gas Card and a free pony. :)

No, not a real pony, a toy one. I didn’t get the Gas Card today because I need to go pick it up on Tuesday, but I did get the Pony. He’s sitting right here on my lap.

I must say I’ve become awful fond of him. I named him Balaam. Yes, I know the animal that Balaam struck in the story was a donkey, not a horse, but its close enough and I like the name.

So there.

Ha. :)

The Spoils of Christmastide Commercialism :/

Well normally I don’t like to brag about all the junk I’ve recieved for Christmas, mainly because I dislike the rampant commercialism that has marred this sacred and precious holiday.

I take part in the normal “Christmas” activities for my family, but my heart isn’t really in it anymore. I observe a different sort of Christmas quietly, in the secret and the quiet places of my heart.

This year though, I was actually quite pleased by the things I recieved as gifts. They weren’t overly shiny or commercial: they were simple and practical, and they made me very happy. :)

The Spoils of Christmastide Commercialism

  • A useful mug with my school’s name and logo on it
  • A vintage green notebook/diary
  • Two funky pairs of toe-socks
  • Two bags of ordinary white socks (also a request)
  • An awesomely awesome Kevin Max CD (Stereotype Be)
  • A cozy grey sweater with my school’s name & logo on it
  • A DVD of “National Treasure” (best. movie. ever.)
  • $50 from my Grandma (on mom’s side)
  • My choice of one set of jewelry from Grandma & Grandpa (on dad’s side)
  • A $20 Target gift card from my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins
  • $25 and a gorgeous, inspiring card from my Uncle (my fav. gift this year)

Gah, I feel so spoiled this year. On a particularly low budget Santa Claus has done a fantastic job at making me feel so spoiled.

Strangely enough, my favorite gift this year, like I mentioned before, was an inexpensive hallmark card bought at Walgreens on Christmas Eve with a simple, but thoughtful poem on it. The poem was:

May you experience the peaceful places,
the tranquil moments, the quiet thoughts
that nourish the soul
.”

Ours is a family that only has two volumes: loud and louder, so this was an extra special blessing from my Uncle, the one person who understands me more than anyone else in this world.

Pfft. I’m such a follower.

As online communities migrate from place to place, I guess it makes sense though that one would want to travel with them, but it still makes me feel like a sheep. >.<

Oh well. I do enjoy blogging a lot, so I’ll settle into this soon enough.

In the meantime, Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and God bless us, every one.
